Frankie's credit card problems...SCREEEECH!!!

Also an oldie. I did this for a credit report company years ago. They were trying to put a smiley face on some scary problems that people have regarding their credit cards. I took their words and used them directly, without much metaphor,... hence the Frankenstein holding credit cards and a smiley face mask.
More scary images to come this week, so come back often!!!

Fright Machine...

What would be more frightening than having your head on a metal body that could rust, break or dare I say it?... destroy?!
This is a sketch from one of my older books,... 6 years ago roughly. A bloody good scary sketch. Enjoy till the next Halloween image!

Devil's night...

About 5 or 6 years ago I was sitting in this coffee shop with my sketchbook and this image pops into my head. It was very clear what the image was. I think I scribbled for an hour and a half till I got it down on paper. I wasn't thinking about the old Hardy Boys books I had as a kid but I'm sure they have been rattling around in my nogan for many a year. I had to make it into a painting and show it to the world. It ended up being one of my promo postcards that I send out in the mail. It got me a book cover for a young adult novel.
This is the first in a long line of Halloween images that I will be posting over the next 2 weeks. Stay tuned and be spooky!

Joe the plumber, Joe Camel, not much difference!

All the talk this last week about Joe the plumber got me thinking of a Joe Camel that I used to illustrate for Camel cigarettes back in the day. I did this along with many others about 19 years ago now. I can't believe it's been so long already. I know it was a terrible influence on young people but it paid the bills very well. Helped fund my trip to Italy back then.
Hey, it's getting colder up here in the PNW and I've started turning on the heat a few nights this last week. Bummer!!!! I miss summer soooooo much!!!
My tomato plant is all but dead, my cucumber plants were so withered I almost thought to leave them to be blown away by the winter wind and my other deck plants are suffering the cold at night. I may have to bring some of them inside. I'm sure they are filled with many many bugs by now. Mostly ones that I'm allergic to!!!
Halloween's a comin' and I've got several parties to attend to keep my spirits high. Over the next several postings I'll be putting up some of my Halloween art I've done over the years. Come back often to check that out!!!
Enjoy some sun!

Burt's wrong arm...

I don't know where this title came from. I was doodling away when this image came into my head along with the title. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow. Maybe there's a book in there somewhere.
I've been working on the graphic novel sketches all weekend and lying around the house. I've got two other stories that are pokin' at me to write and illustrate them but they are going to have to wait their turn, I'm going to stick with the one I'm working on now till it's done, even though it's probably going to take one more year to finish.
Starting in November I'll be taking the rest of my spare time to write the standard novel version of my graphic novel for the NINORIMO contest. (For the whole month of November one needs to write a certain amount of words toward finishing a novel. The winners are awarded in December.) I got as far as 20,000 words last year and not even close to half way through the novel. I will continue that effort this November. Cheer me on by stopping by my house and doing my chores for me, please. Seriously.
Enjoy the doodle. More soon!
Happy Columbus Day on Monday for all those who celebrate that sort of thing! Also Happy Sukkot Day on Monday. (Whatever that is!)
