This week's 15 minute sketch challenge..."Happy to be here"

Having all the beautiful sun and hot temps over the weekend and into this week, I didn't stay at home much or concentrate on anything other then spending time in the sunshine, riding my bike and kayaking almost every day. So, today was the first time I had to catch up on a few things... like the sketch challenge, which reflects the last few days of great sunshine! Hope you dig: "Happy to be here"

Today's 15 minute sketch challenge..."Jumpy"

It's spring and things are a poppin' all over the place. I've got two art shows to put up and a conference in Rhode Island to consider… not to mention all the work that needs to be done at Amazon and the graphic novel that I've been working on for the last 4 years. And as if that weren't enough… I'm speaking to the Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators this coming Tuesday… with band practice on Sunday and a going away brunch for me friend Jamie. Sheesh… out of breath…. All that came to mind while coming up with this sketch for today's 15 minute sketch challenge. Enjoy. -Mike

Things got a little busy over the weekend so I took a personal day from work today to finish up on a bunch of things,... errands, shopping, finishing up the video I'm working on, planting all my new vegetable plants and finally getting to the 15 minute sketch challenge... which is called "Very Anxious, if you know what I mean?" The pacific northwest has had some sun lately, even though it's still a bit on the cool side, could summer be close at hand? Maybe.
I took a long bicycle ride this afternoon and drew this image when I got back. It's called: "Sunshine Dragon"

It was so close to being a perfect sunny spring day today that it worked itself into the drawing. I also went for a long bike ride today.

Ok, it was a bit more time then allotted today but I had to finish off this idea. It was a lot of fun to draw and basically it's about all the singing being done on tv shows these days. While I think there is a time and place for singing… it doesn't have to be all the time and the whole competition thing is really bugging me. Sit back and enjoy the show regardless…

Here's the result of the first "15 minute sketch challenge" for 2012 and I went a bit over time because of talking on the phone with a relative about something very important but was happy to realize what I had drawn when I finished. Hope you like it too!
